Artist Statement

I have always been drawn to creative pursuits. Through playing the violin, I began to understand how subtle movements of my hands and fingertips profoundly influenced the sound. When I switched my focus to ceramics, that same understanding translated into the clay. The moment I threw my first pot on the wheel I knew I had encountered something very special.

Clay has a unique character - it teaches the potter extreme amounts of patience and resilience and goes through an enigmatic journey from start to finish, chaos to order. Forming the vase is about pushing boundaries and listening to them. I enjoy the meditative process of carving, introducing texture and individuality to each piece.

I am inspired by the style of ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian pottery . I love the graceful contours of these forms, which mirror forms in nature.

I aim to honor Beauty for Beauty’s sake.
